Jam Chart for Sigma Oasis (8 entries)

Date City Timing Notes
2021-09-05 Commerce City, CO 15:05 "Sigma Oasis" makes its jam vehicle debut as the second half of a surprise first set 1-2 punch with "Sand", settling into a lower-key late-night groove reminiscent of the prior show's "Everything's Right" before morphing into something even more wicked thanks to Trey and Mike's effects and then slowly morphing into "All of These Dreams".
2022-05-28 Orange Beach, AL 18:41 In a string of strong openers, Sigma Oasis gets the extended treatment for the second time. Soaring play from Trey kicks the jam off, which gives way to a breakdown jam. Mike is inventive and creative throughout.
2022-07-24 Hartford, CT 17:42 Another strong entry in the early history of what has quickly become Phish's post-shutdown standard bearer, this dual peak version traverses blissful, melodic heights then contemplates subterranean spaces before reascending triumphantly.
2022-08-05 Atlantic City, NJ 21:29 A multi-sectioned monstrosity emerges from the Atlantic City Beach. The jam begins in familiar, but strong territory with excellent melodic interplay. The music grows deeper as Trey and Mike dip into their effects. Shortly after the 14 minute mark, Fishman blasts the band off into hyperspace via a double time tempo change. An aggressive and high energy jam follows, evocative of 2.0 era "Piper"s. The band then cools down into a thick funk segment that -> "Cities." Must hear.
2023-07-12 Huntsville, AL 16:29 A gritty, sweaty take that bakes in southern heat before opening into a cooler sonic space that bubbles to a rolling peak and simmers to conclusion.
2023-07-21 Burgettstown, PA 16:17 All four members are right up front contributing creatively without hesitation, actively listening, remaining locked in and punchy with direction. An upbeat set 2 opener that segues neatly into "The Final Hurrah".
2024-08-06 Grand Rapids, MI 10:39 Less by way of bells and whistles than vim and vigor, play is fierce. Trey seemingly signals for a shift after the five-minute mark; Page, however, blows through the stop sign, igniting an exciting audible - one which underscores what makes "basic" Phish c. 2024 (hint: Trey, here) so very peak.
2024-08-29 Commerce City, CO 19:13 Pretty version, ft. pronounced echoes through Trey’s vocal section. Some of those strong "TFTB" vibes as play coasts. Trey augments his tone - also pretty - and the band works through a light, airy jam, with particularly notable play from Fish. Trey alights upon yet another great theme (he makes it seem so easy these days) which, owing to his patience, allows for a restrained, yet thoughtful, conclusion. Quiet highlight.
Jam chart versions are selected because of improvisational and other characteristics that distinguish these from typical versions of the song.
